*Although the tutoring is mainly aimed at BA students, MA students are allowed to make appointments with tutors.
The English Section is pleased to be able to continue offering tutoring help to its students: four experienced MA students will be helping their peers with their essay writing. The students most urgently invited to take advantage of this service are 1st year students but students at any level are encouraged to make an appointment if they feel they are struggling with any part of the writing process or just want to learn what they can improve. Writing is a lifelong learning process — we are always learning how to write better, more clearly, more effectively and powerfully, even the most experienced writers. So this is not a service only for weak writers but an opportunity for any student to improve their skills. Students are welcome to bring essay outlines, drafts or corrected essays to discuss with our tutors during one-on-one consultations. Tutors will not proofread and edit assignments, but help students to develop effective writing skills and editing strategies, to spot and prioritise issues to work on, as well as to become more confident writers and better readers of their own writing.
Tutoring will take place in Anthropole 5138.1 or 5139 (department library).
