Marie Walz is a Graduate Assistant in English and Comparative Literature in the English Department at the University of Lausanne. She is currently completing a PhD thesis studying the intertextual relationships between Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene and selected works by Angela Carter, with a focus on allegory, fairy tales, and gender. In 2012, she graduated from the University of Lausanne with a Master of Arts degree in English and History of Religions, as well as a specialisation in Comparative Literature. She was awarded a Faculty Prize for her excellent results and original MA thesis entitled ‘When The Faerie Queene Enters The Bloody Chamber: Angela Carter’s Short Stories and their Spenserian Intertexts’. Previously, she completed a BA in English and Archaeology also at the University of Lausanne. Her research interests include early modern and postmodern literature, allegory, fairy tales, fantasy, Gothic fiction, and women’s writing.
