After joining the University of Lausanne in 1999 he was responsible for valorising teaching and created the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CSE). He was also responsible for developing the UNIL "Quality" concept.
He is also active at a national and international level in the field of Quality. He chairs Q-netzwerk, the quality network for Swiss universities.
He is an expert in quality and evaluation issues for various bodies such as the European Universities Association (EUA), the Irish University Quality Board, the (French) Agency for the Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (AERES), World Bank.
Vice-Rector since 1st September 2006, he has been responsible for valorising teaching, the use of technologies in teaching, Science-Society Interface and Quality activities. A second term of office as Vice-Rector began on 1st September 2011.
