Alexandru Deftu receives the Sciex Science Slam Award 2014

Alexandru Deftu, a PhD doctoral student on a Sciex exchange program with Romania, has received the award for his work on the involvement of immune cells in the development of chronic pain in the spinal cord.

Lausanne Medical Teaching (LMT) Awards: Recognition for the UNIL's teachers of medicine

At the presentation ceremony for the Lausanne Medical Teaching (LMT) Awards, ten teachers of the pre-graduate medical course received awards for the excellence of their didactic rhetoric or their course support work.

Award for IST and the Infectious Diseases Department

Gaëlle Vacher, a post-doctoral biologist at the Swiss-French University Institute for Work and Health (IST) and the Infectious Diseases Department of the Lausanne University Hospital, won the award for the best oral presentation at the 3rd International Congress of Public Health in Porto.

More than 2 million Swiss francs for the project led by Prof. Norman Schürhoff

The research team led by Prof. N. Schürhoff (HEC, UNIL), H. Hau (University of Geneva), L. Mancini (EPFL), A. Ranaldo and J. Wrampelmeyer (University of St.Gallen) won the competition to obtain the “Sinergia 2014 Grant” offered by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

Alice McPherson, recipient of the 2014 Gonin Medal

The first woman to receive this distinction awarded every four years, Prof. Alice R. McPherson, president of the Retina Research Foundation, was nominated by the International Council of Ophthalmology to receive the 2015 Gonin Medal.

2014 Friedrich Miescher Award presented to Sophie Martin
