Léonard Burnand receives the De Felice Prize 2015

The Roberval Prize, an international competition run in French, is awarded to publications that help explain science and technology and has been awarded to a researcher from the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics (IDYST), who co-authored a study on issues in Swiss energy transition.

Understanding flies’ sense of smell

The national Latsis Prize 2015 has been awarded to Richard Benton for his work on the fruit fly’s sense of smell. The biologist studies how chemical signals control insects’ behaviour. How odours influence actions is one of the fundamental questions in neuroscience.

Prof. Yves Pigneur and Alexander Osterwalder singled out at the Management "Oscars"

Yves Pigneur, a professor at the UNIL Facutly of HEC and Alex Osterwalder, CEO of Strategyzer and holder of a doctorate from HEC Lausanne, were presented with the highly prestigious “Strategy Award” by Thinkers50 in London.

Two Professors receive awards at the annual conference of the European Academy of Forensic Science

Professors Pierre Margot and Christophe Champod of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Science and Public Administration received two prestigious awards from the European Academy of Forensic Science at its conference in Prague.

Primary Care Medicine College (CMPR) Award

The research projects conducted by Dr Patrick Bodenmann, Lecturer and Researcher (MER1) at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM), Dr Lili Herzig, a Course Instructor at the FBM, and Prof. Thomas Bischoff, a Full Professor at the FBM and Director of the University Institute of Family Medicine (IUMF) concerning precariousness in the doctor's surgery have received the CMPR Award for research in primary care medicine.

Best Reviewer award pour le prof. Castañer

Xavier Castañer, Professor of Strategy at HEC Lausanne, receives the Best Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ). Xavier Castañer has been an examiner with AMJ since 2011 and has been singled out for the high quality of his assessments in recent years.

A young geophysicist from the UNIL receives an award from the Society of Exploration Geophysicists

Doctor J. German Rubin, a post-doctoral student at the UNIL, has received the prestigious J. Clarence Karcher Award 2015. The award is recognition for his essential contributions to the understanding of seismic wave propagation in heterogeneous porous rocks.

Norman Schuerhoff, Professor of Finance at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Lausanne, has won the Review of Asset Pricing Studies best paper award. He is co-author of a publication entitled "Ratings-based investment practices and bond market segmentation".

Leenaards Science Award 2015

Joan-Carles Suris receives the Iris F. Litt Visiting Professor in Adolescent Health Research Award 2015

Dr Joan-Carles Suris, PD at the FBM and head of the research group on adolescent health, received the Iris F. Litt Visiting Professor in Adolescent Health Research Award 2015 presented by the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine (SAHM). It is the first time that the award has gone to a European researcher.
