The research atmosphere
| The research at the CIG is performed by an international community of scientists. Yet, the character of the CIG is one of a single, integrated research center, where interactions among groups are numerous both in informal and formal settings. Most of the major equipment is shared, making daily contacs between group members a necessity. The core facilities are a place to meet inside and outside users. Aseminar program, a yearly retreat, and meetings organized by the CIG or associated partners contribute to a vibrant intellectual climate. |

Doing a PhD at the CIG
| Teaching contributes to a stimulating intellectual environment and to the development of students, many of whom participate directly in the research effort as part of a research team. Postgrade students form a part of every research group, participate in internal research group meetings and in weekly seminars and meetings organized by the CIG, UNIL and their partners. Students benefit from the interactive atmosphere of the CIG and indeed contribute to building this atmosphere through scientific exchanges as well as by promoting social interactions through sporting and other events! |   |
