GTF (K. Harshman)
| Keith Harshman received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the California Institute of Technology in 1990. Following post doctoral fellowships at the University of Zurich and the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, he joined Myriad Genetics Inc. in 1993, first as a Senior Scientist and later as the Director of Central Nervous System Disease Research. In 1997 he moved to the Department of Immunology & Oncology of the National Biotechnology Center in Madrid as the Head of the Functional Genomics Unit. He has been the Coordinator of the DNA Array Facility of the CIG since November of 2002. |
The GTF in brief
The mission of the Lausanne Genomic Technologies Facility (GTF) is to provide its user community access to and assistance with state-of-the-art nucleic acid analysis technologies. To this end, the major technology platfroms supported by the GTF are:
• The Illumina Genome Analyzer IIxl ultra high throughput DNA sequencing technology for DNA and RNA analysis applications
• Affymetrix GeneChip and the Illumina BeadChip oligonucleotide microarrays for mRNA expression analysis
• Agilent Technologies miRNA gene microarrays for the analysis of miRNA gene expression
• In house-produced spotted high density DNA and protein microarrays
• The Applied Biosystems 7900HT Sequence Detection System for quantitative real-time PCR analysis of mRNA, miRNA and DNA
Additionally, the facility provides bioinformatic support and consultation services at the stages of experimental design, data collection and storage, image analysis and, when possible, higher level data analysis as well as laboratory space and computer workstations to perform experiments and/or data analyses.
