The wound response initiation problem
Jasmonate synthesis and signalling are initiated in tissues distal to wounds when electrical signals are decoded. What are the mechanisms of long distance electrical signalling and signal decoding in plastids. The main tools we use are glr and lox mutants as well as the fou2 mutant in a major tonoplast cation channel.
The genetics of nonenzymatic oxidation
Is it possible to isolate genes involved in the maintainence of normal levels of nonenzymatic oxidation? We are particularly interested in the role of malonaldehyde (MDA) production in zones rich in stem cells (apical meristems and pericycle cells). One of the tools we use is a method designed in our lab to locate small pools of MDA in situ.
