Closely related insects elicit similar molecular responses in Arabidopsis (Supplementary figure)
Supplementary figure. Two closely related insects elicit similar molecular responses in Arabidopsis.
Relative changes in gene expression were measured 3 hr after wounding Arabidopsis leaves and after challenging leaves for 3-4 hr with P. rapae or P. brassicae larvae. Expression ratios calculated from experiments comparing unwounded with wounded plants are plotted against expression ratios from experiments comparing unchallenged with insect-challenged plants. Black dots represent genes that did not show a significant change in expression after wounding or insect challenge (using a threshold of twofold change). Blue dots represent genes that were induced in both treatments. Red dots (HEL for P. rapae; HEL, PDF1.2 for P. brassicae) represent genes that were only induced in insect-challenged plants. Green dots represent genes that were only induced after mechanical wounding.
