Dr. Iakov Davydov

I am bioinformatician with broad interests: evolution, computer science and machine learning. I am using statistics and data analysis to answer life science questions.
My project is related to phylogeny and Darwinian selection.
Currently I am working on dN/dS-based codon substitution models of positive selection, their biological applicability and computational efficiency, especially for the large datasets.

2013-present
Postdoc in the University of Lausanne/Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics
Groups: Evolutionary Bioinformatics (Marc Robinson-Rechavi), Department of Ecology and Evolution and Computational Phylogenetics (Nicolas Salamin), Department of Computational Biology
Studying evolution of protein coding genes and genome-wide patterns of positive selection. Developing new models of codon evolution, working on their computational efficiency.

2010-2013
Research Associate
Scientific Research Center "Bioclinicum"

2013
Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU)
PhD degree in Bioinformatics/Molecular Biology

2006
Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation (Technical University)
Specialist degree (equivalent of master's), Engineering
