Tasks and Specializations

I've been working in quite different subject areas during the past few years.
After producing biodegradable plastic in plants, I then analysed the perception of light by plants and I also worked on heat shock proteins.
Since August 2003 I have joined the group of Ian Sanders and now I'm dealing with a new organism, which is called Glomus. It's an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus and it is cute!
I like to do lab-work, which is quite similar to cooking: after having prepared a good soup of LB, with a pinch of salt and a delicious yeast powder, I prepare some Petri plates to culture some nice little beasts, which I then kill and destroy. Grrr!
Molecular biology allows you to express yourself: don't aggress your neighbor instead extract some DNA!
My current project involves screening genomic DNA libraries for variation in protein-coding genes in the AMF Glomus intraradices. I also recently extracted the genomic DNA of G. intraradices that has been used to make the small and medium insert libraries for the Glomus genome sequencing project.
