The Institute of Banking and Finance (now called Department of Finance) was created in 1989 to foster research in finance and develop a complete offering of finance courses at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne.
Research carried out by our faculty covers all aspects of finance including asset pricing, corporate finance, market microstructure, and financial institutions. The impact of our research is reflected in the large number of publications in prestigious academic journals, such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, and the Review of Financial Studies, and in awards received by our faculty. In addition, we organize an academic seminar series featuring high-profile researchers and we invite internationally renowned researchers for extended visits.
