The team of students from the Master’s in Finance at HEC Lausanne (University of Lausanne) won the EMEA regional final of the highly prestigious CFA Institute Research Challenge in Dublin on 5 April. Its outstanding performance means that Switzerland will be represented in the international final for the first time in nine years. The final will take place in Kuala Lumpur in three weeks’ time. The Dean’s Office congratulates the entire team and Professor Norman Schürhoff for their success and wishes them good luck for the final.

"Ma thèse en 180 secondes" (MT180) est un concours de vulgarisation scientifique ouvert à tous les doctorant·e·s. Chaque doctorant·e doit faire, en trois minutes et avec des termes simples, un exposé convaincant sur son projet de recherche devant un public diversifié. Cette année, ce sont Irina Prostakova et Hazbi Avdiji – tous deux doctorants à HEC Lausanne – qui ont exposé leurs travaux.

A team of students from the Master in Finance at HEC Lausanne won the very prestigious Swiss CFA Institute Research Challenge 2017 on 22 February this year in Zurich. It is the fifth victory in six years for HEC Lausanne, a performance which is a badge of honour for the Master in Finance programme.

Ten projects approved by the SNSF in 2017
Projects involving 11 researchers from the Faculty of Business and Economics at UNIL were selected for grant funding by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in 2017. In total, the SNSF will provide over CHF 1.7 million in funding for the new projects, spread over several months or years, enabling the researchers to create a team and launch their project.

Major reform for the Master of Science in Finance at HEC Lausanne
Since the start of the 2017 academic year, the Master in Finance program run by the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne has offered three possible orientations: students can now choose to specialize in “Financial entrepreneurship and data science”, “Asset and risk management” or “Corporate finance”. The aim of creating the three orientations is to offer a better match between the needs of a fast-changing sector and students’ individual interests.
