Genetic adaptation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 mediated by small regulatory RNA
Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 is an ubiquitous and oportunistic gram negativ bacterium growing on a pletor of media, from minimal media, to more complexe ones like the sputum medium in the lung of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients.
Recent discovery of a small RNA (sRNA) involved in catabolic repression in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, named CrcZ, highlights the crucial role of such regulatory elements in this high versatil bacteria.
High througput sequencing, allowed us to map hundreds millions of short reads of cDNA, obtained from RNA extracted from cells growing in different media, changing either the carbon or the nitrogen source. Quantitativ and qualitativ analysis of this RNA deep sequencing experiment, bring the evidence of numerous regulatory mecanisms of adaptation, for some mediated by sRNA, coupling the carbon and nitrogen metabolism, optimizing growth and obviously pathogenicity of this bacteria.

Recent discovery of sRNA involved in catabolic repression in P. aeruginosa lead us to investigate new potential sRNA involved in pseudomonad metabolism. Bioinformatic screening and RNA Deep sequencing bring new evidence of regulatory RNA and metabolic adaptation of this opportunistic versatile bacteria.
