Information for students registered elsewhere than the School of Biology of the University of Lausanne
If you are a student of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique (HEP)
The teachers of the Secondaire I are educated in the Haute Ecole Pédagogique (HEP) in two teaching branches.
The Bachelor degrees in sciences of the University of Lausanne, the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and other universities generally do not have the 40 ECTS required credits in a second teaching branch (e.g., Natural Sciences).
The website http://formasciences.epfl.ch/ describes the content of other education programmes that can be used to obtain the required credits. These additional credits can be acquired at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne or the University of Lausanne (FBM and FGSE).
Number of additional credits to acquire
The number of additional credits to be acquired is determined by the Academic Services Department (Service Académique) of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique.
Obtaining additional credits
Obtaining the additional credits is subject to the regulations of studies of the University of Lausanne or of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
a. If <15 additional credits must be acquired
The student registers at the Service Académique of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique (SAC-H)
For credits to be acquired at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne:
- The student registers as an auditor-student at the Academic Service of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (SAC) on the basis of a certificate of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique. No financial support is provided.
- The student registers for courses at the SAC, attends classes and takes the examinations.
- The student prints his or her exam report and forwards it to the Service Académique of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique
For credits to be acquired at the University of Lausanne:
- The student registers at the University of Lausanne as an external student.
- The student attends the classes and takes the examinations.
- The faculty forwards the exam report to the student, who forwards it to the Service Académique of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique
b. If > 15 additional credits must be acquired
The student registers as an auditor student at the Academic Service of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (SAC) on the basis of a certificate of the Haute Ecole Pédagogique. No financial support is provided.
If you are a student in mobility
You remain registered in your university and you follow the courses offered by the School of Biology. You must make yourself known to the secretariat of the School of Biology so as to specify the courses that you have selected and to make sure that everything is in order.
If you are an auditor
Anyone over 18 years old can follow courses at the University of Lausanne as an auditor. To do this you must register at the Service des immatriculations et inscriptions by the beginning of the courses.
Auditors must obtain a permission of the School of Biology to follow courses of the first and second year of the Bachelor in Biology.
Auditors get the agreement of the School of Biology to follow courses of the third year of the Bachelor in Biology or Master courses only if the professor concerned gives his or her permission.
The School of Biology does not allow auditors:
To participate in laboratory practicals, exercises, seminars and field trips or to take exams.
The registration fee for a semester is CHF 150 and auditors do not receive any student card or certificate of registration.
If you wish to register at the University of Lausanne as an auditor, you must inform the School of Biology by email (biologie-etudiants@unil.ch) which courses you wish to follow so that we can verify that it is in order for us. Thereafter, you must send us the auditor registration form and a copy of the receipt of fee payment to certify your status.
Additional information is available on the website of the Services des immatriculations et inscriptions:
www.unil.ch/immat/page5393.html
If you are an MD-PhD student
Each candidate selected by the MD-PhD Commission follows courses (Lectures, Seminars, Lab practicals) in the disciplines that prepare them for research, for a total of 25 ECTS credits.
These courses are taken either within the curriculum of the School of Medicine (Track I) or after obtaining the Master degree in Medicine (Track II) and are selected among the courses of study of the current academic year of the Bachelor in Biology or those of one of the three Masters of the School of Biology.
The PhD programme of the MD-PhD consists of a preparatory biology programme followed by doctoral studies. Students ultimately receive a Doctorate in Medicine and Science (MD-PhD).
