Doctorate in Nursing Sciences (PhD)
The changing demography of population, the transformation of health care systems and the limited health resources require highly qualified professional caregivers.
The Doctoral School of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine provides an opportunity for the nurses holding a master’s degree to achieve a doctorate in nursing sciences. Two years of professional experience are also required.
The doctoral thesis of that curriculum will focus on three priority domains : the aging of the population, mental health and critical care situations.
This PhD in nursing sciences at UNIL is the second in the Francophone world, second to the one currently offered by the University of Montreal (Canada).
This doctorate is part of the Institut universitaire de formation et de recherche en soins (IUFRS) and the result from the partnership between the university hospitals of Vaud and Geneva (CHUV et HUG), the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva (UNIL et UNIGE), the Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale (HES-SO), the Foundation La Source and the Swiss Association of Nurses (ASI).
