| General presentation |
This programme is intended for people whose culture and/or language of reference is not French (upper secondary school-leaving certificate obtained in a non French-speaking country or territory). It offers extensive training in French as a Foreign Language in its language-related and cultural dimensions and provides the theoretical knowledge in literature, linguistics and teaching necessary for achieving mastery in this field (French-language literatures, linguistics and sociolinguistics of French, teaching the literature and the language, etc.).
In the 1st year, the students follow courses in language, literature and linguistics. They also acquire basic methodological knowledge. In the 2nd year, they improve their linguistic proficiency and widen their field of study to cover the French-speaking world and language learning techniques. They also choose a module outside of the School of French as a Foreign Language (10 ECTS credits) to widen their area of specialisation. Students without the linguistic knowledge required for access to the Diploma course of study must complete a preparatory (foundation) year. It includes about fifteen hours of courses per week dedicated to the systematic practice of the written and oral language, the discovery of cultural practices and reflec- tion on these practices. |
