Programme description: With its structured doctoral programmes, CUSO wishes to unify and improve the supervision and advanced training of doctoral students at its member universities. The doctoral programme in German language and literature implements this structural strengthening in a productive manner, having due regard to the specific institutional and cultural features of the subject. Developed in cooperation with the doctoral students themselves, it focuses essentially on their specific needs. The programme structure is guided by the reality of the institutes for German studies at universities in French-speaking Switzerland and comprises three specific subject modules: A. Linguistics. B. Modern German literature and C. Old German literature (medieval period). A fourth module D covers all these areas with special provision for methodological issues and specific professional prospects for future graduates in German studies. This programme structure is designed to be as flexible and permeable as possible to adjust the supervision of doctoral students readily and continuously to changing conditions. |
