Federal law contains a series of provisions on family situations and working life. The Federal Act on Gender Equality, for example, prohibits any form of discrimination against workers because of their gender, in particular in relation to their civil status, family situation or, for women, pregnancy. Moreover, pregnant women are entitled to protection from redundancy, measures to protect their health in the workplace, and maternity leave.
When and how should a pregnant woman announce her pregnancy at work? What rights and protective measures are available to female employees, particularly at UNIL? What are the different kinds of leave for family reasons available to parents and carers at the university? What is their impact on the length of contracts? You'll find answers to all these questions here.
