To study at the School of French as a Foreign Language, 2 conditions must be satisfied:
To be registered you must be the holder of a Swiss or foreign upper secondary school leaving certificate recognised by the University of Lausanne. If your diploma does not entitle you to register, but you are particularly advanced in French, you may be admitted to the School after taking and passing a preliminary admission exam, called "Préalable" in French. This exam is held at the same time as the ordinary exam session in September.
You must have a good basic knowledge of French, both oral and written.
Non French-speaking students registered with another Faculty of the University of Lausanne may follow our service courses without satisfying any particular conditions
If you satisfy these two conditions, you must apply to the Admissions Department for enrolment forms to be returned, at the latest, by 30 April, together with the required attachments. Candidates needing a study visa must apply two months prior to the deadlines indicated (28 february). After your application has been accepted, you will receive a temporary Certificate of Registration at our School, which will become definitive only after you have passed our admission and classification exam. You will be convoked personally to this exam, which is held during the first days of the courses.
- In order to be accepted to study at the EFLE your level in French must be good enough for you to attend classes taught exclusively in French.
- Should you wish to improve your French or make sure that your level is good enough for you to attend such classes you may enrol in a Cours de Vacances programme for the "Certificat d'études françaises".
