Presentation of EFLE
The School of French as a Foreign Language is affiliated to the Faculty of Arts. It offers complete courses, or specific courses in French and Francophone Language and Culture, as well as in Literature, Linguistics and Didactics. Every year, about 600 students from more than fifty countries take part in the various courses at different levels.
It is also possible at the School of French as a Foreign Language to take just a few specific courses in order to integrate other studies in one of the other Faculties or Schools of UNIL.
The complete courses provide extensive training in French as a Foreign Language (FFL) in its linguistic and cultural dimensions as well as the theoretical knowledge of literature, linguistics and didactics necessary to achieve proficiency in this field. They allow students either to study FFL simply with the aim of teaching French as a second language, or to integrate their training in FFL in a Bachelor of Arts Degree in order to achieve a high level of expertise in this language.
