By Don Paterson
Famous contemporary Scottish poet Don Paterson, author of Nil Nil (1993), God's Gift to Women (1997), Landing Light (2003) and Rain (2010) is also a musician, translator, publisher, critic and essayist (Reading Shakespeare's Sonnets, 2010). He will discuss his very free and creative approach to translation through his work on Antonio Machado (The Eyes: A Version of Antonio Machado, 1999) and Rainer Maria Rilke (Orpheus: A Version of Rilke, 2006), as well as the way in which translating feeds into his own writing process, for instance in his collection Selected Poems (2012).
Don Patterson will also be reading a selection of his poems at 5 p.m. in the Grange de Dorigny (see link below for information).
