Integrated information on risks as a key to reduce the damage of disasters: example of La Guadeloupe

To reduce the damage of disasters it is necessary to implicate the entire communities in disaster management policy according to four principal axes linked to the integrated information: reinforcement of the capacities of evaluation and research, reinforcement of, the inspection networks, the devices of early-warning and the first-aid organizations, improvement of the education of the populations, control of the respect and the application of the regulations for the construction of public and private buildings in collaboration with the insurance companies. I present here some case studies involving several actors of our community, civil societies, corporate sectors, who are aware that preventive actions through information, which are the link between knowledge and practice, can reduce significantly the impact of disasters on vulnerable communities.
