Manfredo Quadroni: Head

Manfredo Quadroni graduated in Biochemistry at the ETH Zurich and then received his Ph.D. from the same institution for work centred on calcium-mediated signalling and protein phosphorylation. There he also got his training in 2D-electrophoresis and mass spectrometry in the laboratory of Dr. Peter James. During a post-doctoral stay at the University of British Columbia, Canada, he also became familiar with signal transduction in immunology. A second post-doc brought him back to ETH Zurich, where he continued working on the development of methods for proteome analysis. He has been in charge of the setup and operation of the PAF since 2002.

What we offer

The Lausanne Protein Analysis Facility (PAF) is a core laboratory devoted to the study of proteins and proteomes. Its primary function is to fulfil the needs of the local academic research community for high-performance protein identification and characterisation technologies. To this goal, the PAF operates a service of protein identification by tandem mass spectrometry of pure proteins and complex mixtures ("shotgun proteomics") and soon will expand its range of service activities to include techniques for protein profiling. The second goal pursued by the PAF is the development of proteomics techniques. This includes the implementation of new strategies for protein analysis as soon as they become available as well as the development of new tools. The PAF also actively collaborates with local research groups to apply new technologies to specific biological questions. Finally, the PAF collaborates with proteomics researchers based in Geneva to offer courses on proteomics techniques and workflows.
