Institute of Geomatics and Risk Analysis

The research and teaching activities of the group focus on the fields of geomatics/geoinformatics and risk analysis, which are described below.

Geomatics

The goal of the institute within this field is to promote, manage and develop teaching and research activities in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), satellite and aerial image analysis (Remote Sensing), machine learning and statistical, probabilistic and numerical modeling within the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environment.
The institute also aims to promote these methods in the fields of natural and human environment.

Risk Analysis

Risk Analysis is mainly oriented toward the study of natural and environmental hazards, particularly from the morphodynamical viewpoint.  The research aims to quantify degradation and alteration phenomena in the Alpine chain alongside dangers generated by these phenomena.
