12 & 13 September 2024 - EPFL

The conference provides a place for discussion and debate for scholars in the humanities and social sciences working on various forms of mobility. 

Presentations may address mobility in its diversity (residential choices, daily mobility and mode choice, multi-residentiality, tourism, etc.) and fall in the following research agendas:

  • Theoretical debates (and in particular the contributions of social theories to the study of mobilities)
  • Methodological innovations (using mobile methods)
  • Public policy and decision making in mobility
  • Regulation of mobility and its tools
  • The actors and their logics of action (residential choice, daily mobility and mode choice, multi-residentiality, etc.)
  • The norms and values underlying mobility and social inequality
  • Temporality and spatiality of mobility
  • Mobility prospective

Call for abstracts

Abstracts of 3000 characters must be sent by April 15, 2024, to the e-mail address : mobility.conference@unil.ch

Abstracts must be submitted exclusively in English. Additionally, applicants are kindly requested to indicate in their abstracts the languages (French and/or English) in which they are able to present.

The conference will be conducted in both French and English. 

We are pleased to announce that the two keynote speakers of the conference are : 

  • Sylvie Landriève, Director of Forum Vies Mobiles  
  • Greg Marsden, Professor at the University of Leeds 

Key deadlines

  • 15 February, 2024: Call for abstracts opens
  • April 15, 2024: Deadline for submitting abstracts
  • End of May, 2024: Notification of acceptance
  • June, 2024: Registration opens
  • September 12-13, 2024: Swiss Mobility Conference
