Prof. Dr. Torsten Vennemann. Director
Research interests
Application of stable isotope fractionations between minerals, fluids and gases as potential monitors of the thermal and fluid evolution in high- and low-temperature environments, including ore deposits, sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks
Isotopes as natural tracers for environmental (hydrologic processes, industrial contamination, archaeological applications) and paleoenvironmental/paleoclimatic changes
Development of new and refinement of existing stable isotope extraction techniques using conventional, laser-based, and/or continuous-flow analytical techniques
Current projects include studies on alpine upliftment, changes in the regional palaeoclimate and palaeooceanography of the circum-alpine region during the Tertiary, understanding mineral-fluid fractionations at variable conditions of P-T-X, sector zoning in minerals, fluid-rock interactions in a number of metamorphic and igneous systems as well as in ore deposits, hydrogeochemistry and organic geochemistry of contaminated groundwaters…..
