What are the matriculation and the registration?
The matriculation is the authorisation given by the University of Lausanne to students to register in a Faculty, subject to meeting the conditions. The registration gives students access to lectures, seminars and practical and lab work, required for a university degree.

Choose your programme and your level of studies
Before starting your application, you have to choose the right programme and find out more about the content of the programmes. The website “Programmes offered by UNIL” gives you more information and will help you with your choice. The Guidance and Careers Service (SOC) is at your disposal for further information.

Submit your application and the related documents within the given deadlines
There are several deadlines for the application at the University of Lausanne depending on the chosen programme and the level of studies. You can find more information about the specific deadlines on the web pages concerning the different programmes (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate).

The semester fees and other taxes at UNIL
The registration fees for the courses and the semester fees generally add up to CHF 580.- (Swiss Francs) per semester (Bachelor, Master, preparatory year and Diploma of French as a Foreign Language).

Administrative fees
The following candidates have to pay administrative fees of CHF 200.- (Swiss Francs) for the processing of their applications:
a) candidates applying for a Bachelor programme, for the preparatory year and for the diploma at the School of French as a Foreign Language, if they are holders of a foreign secondary education diploma or university degree
b) candidates applying for a Master, Doctorate or MAS programme, if they are not holders of a Bachelor or a Master degree delivered by a Swiss University or a Swiss University of Applied Sciences (HES).

The specificities for foreign students who wish to study at UNIL
As a foreigner you may have to get a visa or a study permit in order to enrol at UNIL.
