Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Nathalie Chèvre has a background in environmental engineering and received her PhD in ecotoxicology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne. She then pursued a post-doctoral fellowship at Environment Canada in Montreal. Upon returning to Switzerland, she worked several years at the Swiss Federal Institute for Aquatic Science (Eawag, ZH) as scientist and group leader. During this period, she specialized in the risk assessment of micropollutants and in the development of new ecotoxicological tools to assess their toxic effects.
Domain of activities
Dr. Nathalie Chèvre is currently working on the topic of xenobiotics in the urban water cycle. This topic is of crucial importance given the increase in urban population worldwide, increasing water usage by urban populations and the widespread use of xenobiotics in the built environment and human activities. These combined factors make plain the need for sustainable water management regarding xenobiotics. Dr. Chèvre's project aims to assess the impact of these water-borne xenobiotics on both human and environmental health in order to highlight the most hazardous substances. Potential means to reduce the xenobiotic pollution are also investigated in the project. The final goal is to develop a strategy for sustainable management of water.
