About Us
LICR@UNIL
The Ludwig Center for Cancer Research of the University of Lausanne (LICR@UNIL) was created on January 1, 2011. LICR@UNIL is a logical extension of a collaboration of more than 30 years between the Lausanne Branch of LICR and UNIL. In the new structure the former LICR Lausanne Branch has been completely integrated within UNIL and all LICR@UNIL staff are employed by UNIL. Research support is provided by LICR in the form of renewable block funding.
The goal of LICR@UNIL is to pursue cutting edge cancer research with a special emphasis on cancer immunobiology and immunotherapy. Fundamental research is conducted at the newly re-organized Center for Immunity and Infection (CIIL) in Epalinges in close collaboration with the UNIL Department of Biochemistry and other immunology groups soon to be relocated from the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV). Translational and clinical research (including clinical trials) at LICR@UNIL is conducted on the CHUV campus. In this way LICR@UNIL is able to optimize a broad cancer research program where basic discoveries can be readily translated to the clinic.
