Although the programme is intended to prepare students through intensive advanced teaching for a career in Government, IOs, NGOs and international law firms it can also be a perfect starting point for research activities.
Many of our graduates undertake doctoral studies, very often at the University of Lausanne which offers a perfect environment but also elsewhere, e.g. in nearby Geneva or at the European University Intitute in Florence. We try to help our students to find the ideal solution for them. As a foreign student, you normally do not need to leave the country before enrolling for the doctoral programme but please enquire with the authorities regarding the visa requirements.
Several of our graduates are post-doctoral fellows or professors at Universities around the world (e.g. Paris, Munich, Lausanne, Santiago de Chile...) and maintain a close contact with the programme.
The European University Institute is one of Europe's leading academic institutions in postgraduate studies. In 2008 they offer 140 scholarships. Deadline for the receipt of applications is normally 31 January.
