Research Interests

My research focuses on the neural correlates of Conversion Disorders (CD)-formerly referred to as Hysteria. CD is a frequent, disabling medical condition lying at the frontier between Neurology and Psychiatry.  Patients present with a physical neurological symptom thought to be related to psychological stressors or triggers. My fellowship at the Institute of Psychiatry-London (Prof Anthony David) was dedicated to understanding neural processing of the recall of traumatic events in CD patients. My current work focuses on the identification of subtle neuroanatomic changes in the subtype of motor CD using structural MRI technique.

In parallel of my research activity, currently funded by the Bourse Pro-Femmes, from University of Lausanne, I am involved in the clinical activity of the Neurology Departement and run a weekly Functional Neurology Clinic (consultations de neuropsychiatrie) dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from CD. This clinical work is done in collaboration with the Psychiatry Department (Psychiatrie de Liaison).
