In my neurosciences master (Geneva), I studied cognitive reserve theory with animal models of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). I‘m interested in approaches that take into account the dynamic contribution of genetic and environmental factors to the functioning of individual’s brain. My current PHD research topic is about human brain functional neuroanatomy and predictive model of AD using neuroimaging techniques. A multivariate approach (combining morphometric, functional and neuropsychological measures) will allow a better explanation of the inter-individual differences in brain networks between and within healthy controls and clinical patients in the pre-symptomatic phase of AD. In addition, I am investigating the functional mapping of different brain’s region involved in distinct memory processes that are affected in the early stages of AD.
The overreaching goal of the thesis is to build a precise, personalised predictive model of AD that combines the extant anatomical volumetric biomarkers with the theoretically driven functional mapping, by also taking into account idiosyncratic factors as personality traits.
