International students

The UNIL looks forward to welcoming you soon to its magnificent campus overlooking Lake Léman.
For administrative purposes we divide international students into three categories:
- Full-time students (usually studying for a degree or diploma from the University of Lausanne)
- Exchange students (in the context of an exchange agreement)
- Guest students (not within the framework of an official agreement)

Teaching language
Courses are taught in French, and in English in some programmes.
Students who wish to attend regular courses taught in French should already have a good command of French, at least level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A description of this scale is available here.
The UNIL offers courses in French language for non-French speakers.
