Loesch Juliette

After completing a Master in English and Modern French with a specialisation in Literary Translation at the University of Lausanne and a Master with Distinction in Literary Translation at the University of East Anglia, I came back to Lausanne to start a PhD in English and Comparative Literature. My project explores the transcreative dynamics of Oscar Wilde’s Salome from the page to the stage, focusing on Wilde’s translingual and transcreative writing process, and on Maurice Béjart’s ballet adaptations. Through a comparative analysis of the different versions of Salome, both textual and choreographic, and through a reconsideration of Wilde’s poetics in the light of translation and adaptation studies, I intend to challenge the authority granted to the ‘original’ literary (and artistic) work.
