After reading English at the University of Oxford, I completed a Doctorate at the University of Geneva conducted jointly at the English Department and the Institut d’Histoire de la Réformation (IHR). I have been affiliated to the English Department at the University of Zurich since 2003, and have taught early modern poetry and prose on both sides of the Sarine. I am the author of Reformation Fictions: Polemical Protestant Dialogues in Elizabethan England (Oxford University Press, 2011), What is an Image in Medieval and Early Modern England? SPELL 34 (co-edited with Olga Timofeeva, Narr Verlag, 2017), and articles on Reformation propaganda literature, John Milton, and the reading practices of Lady Anne Clifford. I am currently writing a monograph entitled ‘Making and Breaking Images in Milton’s Paradise Lost’, generously funded by a three-year Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione award.
