Christoph Neuenschwander is a doctoral researcher in Sociolinguistics at the University of Bern. Merging the disciplines of Linguistic Ethnography, Critical Discourse Analysis and Pidgin & Creole Studies, the project investigates how metalinguistic discourses have facilitated, or slowed down, the legitimization, authentication and standardisation processes of two Pacific creoles: Tok Pisin and Hawai’i Creole. As a visiting staff member, Christoph Neuenschwander has been teaching at the University of Lausanne since 2017. His research interests include Language Contact, Creolistics, Second Language Acquisition, Standardisation and Prescriptivism, Linguistic Anthropology and Language Ideologies.
