Bomb Calorimetry

ika-c-200-oxygen-bomb-calorimeter-system.jpgEnergy intake is determined by both food intake and the efficiency of energy assimilation during digestion. In energy balance studies, bomb calorimetry is used for the determination of the energy content of biological samples including stools and food.

A minimum of 1g of feces is required per mouse (usually delivered by mice in 1-2 days), for 8 mice per group.
