The semi-intensive course is a program given every morning over 3 weeks in winter and over 3 or 6 weeks in summer. The content and organization of the lessons are adapted to levels A1 to C1 according to the CEFR scale. The semi-intensive course is also offered with an option "Introduction to academic texts" (from level A2-B1). The semi-intensive course aims at learning French through practice in language activities.
POSSIBLE OPTION
It is possible to take the semi-intensive course with the "Introduction to Academic Texts" option (level A2 must be reached).

LOCATION
Courses take place in the Anthropole building in the Quartier Chamberonne of the UNIL campus.
DURATION
The semi-intensive course can be chosen over 3 or 6 weeks. The 6-week version is only available in the summer and cannot be chosen with the "Introduction to Academic Texts" option.
This course consists of a practical language course of 55 periods of 45 minutes in class and ca. 25 periods of independent study hours. You will have classes every morning, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm. If your language level on our placement test is A2-B1 or higher, you will have the option of choosing a specific grammar, writing or pronunciation workshop that you will take during the second half of the morning.

If you choose the "Introduction to academic texts" option, you must have acquired level A2.
Minimum age
You must be at least 17 years old on the first day of class. No exceptions are possible.
PARTICIPATION ATTESTATION
The semi-intensive course awards you with an attendance attestation on which are mentioned the level and content of the attended course and the number of class hours.
CERTIFICATION
The semi-intensive course doesn't help you compile the language portfolio which is a prerequisit of admission to the exams of the CQF (Certificate of qualification in French) and the enrolment in this course doesn't lead to the CQF. If you wish to be accompanied in the realisation of a portfolio we advise you to attend the Intensive course.
If you wish to follow the semi-intensive course and obtain certification of your level, you must register for the semi-intensive course and the CQF exams on our registration portal.
3-week Semi-intensive course
- without the Certificate of qualification in French (CQF) : CHF: 700.-
- with the Certificate of qualification in French (CQF) : CHF 1'050.-
DISCOUNT* for UNIL students
3-week semi-intensive course: CHF 490.- instead of CHF 700.-
*Discount granted on presentation of a valid UNIL registration certificate. The difference in price will be refunded upon receipt of the registration certificate to be presented to us no later than March 1, 2023.

IMPORTANT
The Cours de vacances reserves the right to cancel your registration:
- according to the directives of the FOPH or the UNIL Rectorate in relation to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic;
- if we have an insufficient number of registrations.
In both cases, the full registration fee will be refunded.
