Dr. Max Schmid

I am broadly interested in evolutionary biology with focus on how organisms can cope with a heterogeneous and variable environment. My past projects addressed local adaptation, evolution during range dynamics, and evolutionary rescue from environmental change. Furthermore, I applied theoretical methods to accompany empirical studies (i.e. genomic and morphometric approaches) and contributed to the development of Nemo, a spatially- and genetically-explicit individual-based simulation platform. During my postdoc at UNIL, I will study the interaction between divergent and disruptive selection, and the evolution of the genetic architecture of social traits.
