Research interests
My scientific interests are focused on ecology related questions and especially those dealing with community ecology.
During my master project, I studied tropical rain forests of French Guiana. I identified seedlings specimens using DNA Barcoding technics. Thanks to this first step, we were able to compare abundance and leaf functional traits between seedlings and adults of the same species. The conclusion was that the long term coexistence of tropical plant species is mainly due to environmental biotic filters (such as herbivorous), giving more support to the Janzen-Connell hypothesis.
Phd project : The Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) The roots of over 60% of plant species form intimate symbioses with AMF. It is through this symbiosis that plants obtain phosphorus and protection from pathogens. This project gives me the opportunity to measure the importance of key species such as AMF on plant community assembly rules. It will be interesting to lead experimental studies on both AMF species presence in the ecosystem and intraspecific genetic variability in order to measure the potential effect of AMF on associated plant species.
