I am interested in the genetic basis of phenotypic variation in life history traits such as longevity, reproduction, stress resistance and diapause in natural and experimental populations of the fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster). In my Ph.D. project, I aim to examine clinal phenotypic variation in life history traits along latitudinal gradients and to determine the relevence of candidate genes and allelic variants that might underlie variation in life history traits.
