My research interests focus on the importance of biotic interactions in species distribution models (SDMs). SDMs are based on species occurrences and thus should account for biotic interactions driving species assemblage. However, several published examples have shown that climatic variables only where not sufficient to capture properly the niche of the species.

The aim of my thesis is to better understand the role of biotic interactions in SDMs in order to predict not solely species occurrence but also community assemblages. As study systems, I am particularly interested in mutualistic interactions between plants and insects in alpine and arctic environments, but also more generally on other strong biotic interactions between plant and animals.
