Nadir Alvarez - SNF Professor

Research group

We investigate the genetic processes that occur following changes in a species’ distribution. Phylogeography has been our main research topic for the last ten years with a more recent focus on comparative phylogeography in plants and associated insects. We are now interested in understanding the extent to which the magnitude of a species range shift might influence dynamics of alleles in populations, as well as diversification processes.
