Research Interests

I am presently working on the Behavioural and Microbial Interactions between the Birds and a community of bacteria present on the feathers of the birds.

It is supposed that in the wide diversity of the microorganisms that inhabit the bird's plumage either in attached forms or as plain denizens, some microorganisms would be able to degrade the keratin of the plumage of birds, which may lead to the evolution of strategies with the bird to clean up their feathers.

It would also be interesting to investigate, whether the load of such bacteria creates a situation for sexual selection and mate choice amongst birds, as it may be argued, that parasite loads could be inversely related to the fitness of individuals.
