SNSF grants
Erna Hamburger Foundation

Hosted by UNIL since 2012, the Erna Hamburger Foundation provides financial support for women who want to continue their education by taking a postgraduate course in Vaud canton.

Grants from the Foundation are designed to help women facing financial difficulties, and whose scientific and professional value is worthy of support, to supplement their income from professional activities. Applicants must provide evidence of advanced work and have been accepted for the final year of their thesis.

Faculty grants

Pro-Femmes grants (FBM)

In order to encourage their female employees’ academic progress, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and CHUV award grants of a maximum of CHF 50,000 year for two years.

Applicants must have achieved the level of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Science, be working or planning to work at CHUV, the Policlinique médicale universitaire (PMU) or the FBM and have an academic career plan in place.

"Equality" grant (FGSE)

The Gender Equality Commission of the Faculty of Geosciences and Environment (FGSE), supported by the Dean's Office, has created an “Equality” grant, which aims to improve the equality of opportunities within the faculty.

The grant lasts for three years (an initial year, renewable once for two years) and provides access to a post at the level of junior lecturer to individuals whose research activities have been reduced or interrupted as a result of their family situation.

Mary Douglas grant (FTSR)

As part of its measures on gender equality, the Faculty of Theology and Sciences of Religions (FTSR), supported by the Equal Opportunities Office and UNIL Rectorate, provides the Mary Douglas grant for the next generation of female academics, in honor of the British anthropologist, one of whose chosen subjects was the anthropology of religions.

The funding is available to women from a Swiss or foreign university. It provides funding for a “research associate” post for a maximum of six months. The activities undertaken in Lausanne in relation to the post must have a link with the FTSR.
