Vital-IT, the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics' High-Performance Bioinformatics Competency Centre, turns 10 this year. The symposium will be held on December 13th, 2013, 13h30-18h00, Genopode C, UNIL-Sorge.
We are pleased to invite you to celebrate a major milestone of an innovative life and medical science bio-informatics initiative, to present research activities enabled today by Vital-IT expertises and critical mass from Geneva to Bern and from Fribourg to Lausanne, and to expose and discuss the challenges facing life and medical science researchers in the near future.
Since its creation, Vital-IT has provided computational infrastructure, know-how and training in bioinformatics, algorithmic designs, and has developed hardware and software solutions to support life science research. It is a collaboration between the SIB, the Universities of Lausanne, Geneva, Bern, Fribourg, the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, the EPFL, and selected industrial partners. Using their complementary competencies, these partners have provided fundamental science and leading edge technology for the construction of a world-class high-performance competency centre.
Over the years Vital-IT has been involved at different levels in a growing number of Swiss and international collaborations, both within the academic community and in industry. This evolution reflects the increasing importance of researcher needs with respect to the daunting amount of data generated and to be analysed, confirming the central role of Vital-IT as a centre of competence in life and medical science research today.
Registration deadline: November 30th, 2013
