Outgoing students

When can you apply?

The exchange programmes of HEC Lausanne offer students the opportunity to go on exchange for a semester (Bachelor, Master students) or an academic year (Bachelor students).

The number of places being limited for each destination, a selection procedure will take place, which is based on an application file:

  • Bachelor students apply in the 2nd year of their Bachelor's degree
  • Master students apply in the 1st year of their Master's degree

Who can go on exchange?

Bachelor

Bachelor students who validated 120 ECTS credits are allowed to spend the 1st or 2nd semester, or the whole academic year at another university during the 3rd year of their Bachelor's degree.

Bachelor students in their 2nd year may only apply to an exchange if their grade average at the 1st semester of the 2nd year is equal or above 4.2 (grades weighted by credits).


Master students are allowed to go on exchange during the 1st semester of the 2nd year of the Master's degree (MScIS: 2nd semester):

MScM: students may only apply to an exchange if their grade average at the 1st semester of the 1st year is equal or above 4.5. The exchange can be undertaken if at least 60 ECTS credits have been validated at the end of the 1st year of the Master's degree.

MScF: students may only apply to an exchange if their grade average at the 1st semester of the 1st year is equal or above 4.5. The exchange can be undertaken if at least 60 ECTS credits have been validated at the end of the 1st year of the Master's degree.

MScE: students may only apply to an exchange if their grade average at the 1st semester of the 1st year is equal or above 4.0. The exchange can be undertaken if at least 60 ECTS credits have been validated at the end of the 1st year of the Master's degree.

MScCCF: students may only apply to an exchange if their grade average at the 1st semester of the 1st year is equal or above 4.0. The exchange can be undertaken if at least 60 ECTS credits have been validated at the end of the 1st year of the Master's degree.

MDE: students may only apply to an exchange if their grade average at the 1st semester of the 1st year of the Master's degree is equal or above to 4.0.

Choice of destination

For the choice of the exchange destinations, several aspects must be taken into account, such as:

  • the academic calendar of the partner university
  • courses on a trimestrial, semestrial or annual basis
  • the national language
  • the language in which courses are taught at the host university
  • the organisation of studies (Bologna system, “licence” or four-year undergraduate degree system)
  • degree programmes included in the exchange agreement (Bachelor, Master, ...)
  • courses open to exchange students
  • financial aspects
  • practical details concerning accommodation, insurance, living conditions, expenses
