The 8th edition of the Lemanic Neuroscience Annual Meeting (LNAM'11) took place on Friday and Saturday, September 23-24th, at the Maison des Congrès in Les Diablerets.
After two years holding our annual meeting close to lake Leman, a survey among our PhD students shows a 70% preference for our previous format of a one-and-half day meeting up in the mountains. We proposed an interesting scientific program on Friday, including a session with more than 100 posters. Saturday morning was devoted to the 2011-12 Doctoral School program, a rountable on "Careers in Science", and a workshop on "Science Communication". To cap the event, the Students' Committee invited us to a BBQ party, followed by a hike and a football and volleyball competition.
Two invited keynote speakers presented their research in Neuroscience with a multidisciplinary approach:
- Alain Chedotal, Institut de la Vision, INSERM UMRS 968, Paris - Development and function of hindbrain commissures
- Mathias Pessiglione, INSERM, Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière, Paris - Motivation, brain and behavior
Research from the Lemanic area was presented in a poster session and several short talks by PhD students, and short talks by various young group leaders.
