PhD Student
Jessica is a chemist, holding a BSc and MSc (2017) in Chemistry from Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia). She has aplied NMR-based metabolomics to study the chemistry of Colombia’s coffee depending on its origins and processing methods, under the supervision of Prof. Julien Wist. Jessica gained an additional experience in LC-MS-based metabolomics during an internship at the Phenome Center, Imperial College London (in 2015 under supervision of Prof. Elaine Holmes) and in NMR-based metabolomics at Weizmann Institute (in 2018 under supervision of Prof. Lucio Frydman). She joined our research group in December 2018, for a PhD, to explore the age-related sexual dimorphism in lipid metabolism in the helathy subgroup of Lausanne population (CoLaus), an ongoing project in collaboration with the clinical consortium at CHUV (Prof. Peter Vollenweider). She is currently optimizing the LC-MS-based methods for quantitative lipidomics - to be applied to population profiling.
